Hey mobs of assholes wilding downtown, FUCK YOU and the longterm effects of your fuckery on the Black community

There are so many reasons why the mob attacks downtown need to stop.

First and foremost its a public safety issue that impacts the quality of life of all of us. The violence that is being carried out is an affront to everyone, whether its happening on Michigan Avenue or at the corner of 64th and Morgan. No one should be subjected to this reckless violence that is terrorizing too many people.

Secondly, these attacks can have a long term negative impact on our city's economy. As people plan their summer vacations or evenings out they will avoid the neighborhoods being targeted and it is these neighborhoods which drive large part of our local economy.

Thirdly, I am most pissed about the long term victims in this whole crisis: young Black men. Everyday this story is in the news I think about all of the hard working, law abiding young Black men, who, as a result of these assholes, are going to be profiled by police and who will be subjected to stares as well as unease by well meaning Chicagoan/tourists who are on edge thanks to the media reports.

I'm glad the police are on the case and I believe they need to do what they have to do to keep us safe, but every time I see young Black men stopped by police downtown I'll wonder if they are the assholes we are hearing about or just some high school/college students who are only guilty of one thing, being Black. The irony is, even as a Black male myself, I sometimes grow a little uneasy every time I see groups of young Black men.

How the city copes with this crisis and the racial elements is yet to be seen. This is a public safety issue that needs to be solved, I just hope a bunch of innocent young Black men don't get victimized in the process. Sadly, while it might be police and society that victimizes them in the long run, its the assholes who happen to also be young Black men who caused this and need to be held accountable, not just for the violence but the long term impact on their peers and future generations of young Black men.

Chicago area bigot posts racist signs, draws media attention then gets support from newspaper readers

When the SouthtownStar, a daily newspaper covering the south side of Chicago and its southern suburbs, reported on the story of Mike Corrigan posting racist signs at his home in Chicago's Beverly neighborhood, early commenters on the newspaper's website came out in support of him.

Although Corrigan displayed a noose alongside a signs with messages like "Say no to the ghetto," and "White power" as well as a sticker that read "White Pride Worldwide," commenters took to his defense.

This is only an article because the liberal media picks up black vs. white stories and milks them dry. Unfortunately, their adjenda doesn't allow them to run many stories of blacks performing acts of racism...only whites.

I laugh when the issue of racism comes up, those of us who call it out are told we are over reacting and these are isolated incidents. The comments displayed above are not exclusive to the SouthtownStar, they pop up on almost every newspaper's website whenever the issue of race comes up.

Man apparently robbed by women he met in Viagra Triangle

We were hanging out on Twitter this afternoon and saw the following tweet from @CarrieBecker7

At my bros condo right now. He was robbed last night by 2 women who may have drugged him at The Hunt Club. Watch out Viagra triangle patrons

After seeing this we reached out to her and asked her for details and she put the following post up on her blog Carrie's posterous:

Be careful! Two women may be preying on gold coast bar patrons

Watch out folks! My brother was out with some buddies last night at The Hunt Club. His group had been drinking a bit that evening and at some point he lost became heavily intoxicated (like he was drugged). He had been talking to two black women maybe in mid-twenties who he does not recall their name. He managed to leave the bar but then the women followed him and started threatening him and demanded money.

This is a disturbing story, not sure what happened, but at the end of the day someone was robbed by folks he met in a bar. Be careful, be safe and look out for one another.

Activist protest Chicago's "Toxic Dirt" ordinance

Chicago Tribune: Critics question soil reuse plan

Chicago environmental activists today urged the city to delay approval of a proposal that would allow crews to reuse soil from construction sites even if the dirt contains lead, arsenic, benzene and other chemicals.

Activists from the Pilsen neighborhood said their community has too often been a dumping ground for toxic materials and that the ordinance, which will come before the City Council's Environment Committee on Monday, raises too many questions to merit speedy approval.

"For many, many years the city has not taken soil contamination seriously, and it's our responsibility as communities of color that are severely impacted to call upon them and say it's too quick to make a decision," said Kim Wasserman of the Little Village Environmental Justice Organization.

The city's soil contains plenty of contaminants after decades of heavy traffic and industrial activity. Dirt removed from construction projects must be transported to landfills and replaced with earth that typically is taken from Downstate farmland.

Senseless violence claims a life in nightclub shooting

It seems lately there has been more and more nightclub shootings lately. This has got to stop.

A 28-year-old man, described by family as a rap producer who occasionally promoted his music at Chicago nightclubs, was killed and one of his friends was wounded when gunfire broke out inside a popular late-night club on the city's Near West Side early this morning.

Chicagoan Brian King was fatally wounded, and one of his friends also was shot, when the gunman began firing about 2:30 a.m. inside Transit Nightclub, 1431 W. Lake St., authorities said.

A few hundred people were in the bar when the shooting occurred, a police source said. The dance club is open until 4 a.m. Fridays.

King, of the 9700 block of South University Avenue, was taken from the scene to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 4 a.m., according to a Cook County medical examiner's office spokesman.

The other victim was treated at Stroger and reported in good condition.
